Welcome to CensusAtSchool International

New Data Added!

New data from the various international CensusAtSchool partner projects has been added to the Random Data Selector (RDS). This includes school children's submitted phase data;

  • New Canada Data for 2009 and 2010: the data split into Secondary and Primary levels is available in both the English and French language versions.
  • More Australian Data: a large amount of data from various phase years has now been added to the RDS.
  • The first Irish Data: the first ever as part of the CensusAtSchool project, although this is the first phase from Ireland it is being classed as Phase 9 as it based on the UK questionnaire from 2008-2009.

For now you may only take 200 samples from the RDS but we hope to add all this exciting new data to the DataTool at some point in the future.

RSSCSE CensusAtSchool joins the ONS for the Big Bang Fair PDF Print E-mail

Next year is Census year for England and Wales and as part of the promotion for the 2011 Census the Office for National Statistics have joined with the RSSCSE CensusAtSchool Project to promote the Census to School Children across the country using Origami, the theme of the 2011 Census.

ONS 2011 Census Origami Bus

The CensusAtSchool Team traveled to Manchester to meet up with the ONS at this year’s Big Band Science and Engineering fair at the Manchester Convention Centre. The team spent three days promoting the CensusAtSchool Resources and the 2011 Census to teachers and students; the stand included a giant purple origami bus, an origami shirt folding competition with a chance to win a free Census 2011 mug and a CensusAtSchool interactive stats quiz.

Overall we helped 2000 students fold origami and gave away an amazing 1200 mugs. Thank you to everyone who visited our stand and all the teachers who signed up for our free resources.

If you would like to know more about the Big Bang you can view the fair’s web site here: http://www.thebigbangfair.co.uk/
